Dental Implants

It's bad enough that missing teeth erode your confidence, but they can also start a cascade of new dental problems.

Let dental implants from Colorado Dental Arts in Littleton, CO, restore life’s simple pleasures and avoid future regrets.

Our highly trained team is happy to work with you to make sure cost doesn’t get in the way of your dental health.

What Is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are the most dependable and stable way to restore your smile as well as your bite. The implant itself is a small post made from titanium, a biocompatible material. This titanium rod serves as a replacement for your tooth's root. During surgery, the post is inserted through the gums and into the jawbone. In a few months, it will fuse with the bone to offer decades, or even a lifetime, of secure support for your restoration.

Modern dental implants have been used successfully since the 1970s and are continuously being improved. Dr. Steven Krendl is committed to staying in step with the latest innovations in dentistry so that he can offer his patients in Littleton the most up-to-date and proven innovations in dental implants.

Dental Implants Can Change Your Life What Makes Implants Special

While other solutions for missing teeth may look like natural teeth, they lack one feature that safeguards your future oral health: tooth roots. When you replace a missing tooth using a dental implant, you completely restore the tooth from the root to the crown.

Why are tooth roots so important?

Maintain Your Jaw

An implant acts like a tooth root, which has an important role in encouraging new bone growth. Without stimulation from the root, your jaw can weaken and recede, which can lead to a new round of dental problems.

Strong & Secure

Because dental implants fuse with your jawbone, they provide an incredibly secure foundation for your restoration, whether it is a single tooth or a full denture. Your new smile will never shift or slip out of place.

Better Function

Dental implants not only restore your smile but also let you talk and eat confidently, a benefit especially treasured by our patients who have tired of dentures that continually slip and slide around in their mouth.

As always kind and considerate. Gets me in timely and works with me to control the damage from my Sjogren’s ( immune system compromised my moisture glands so my mouth has very little saliva to protect my teeth). Doing awesome! Great dentist and staff.

The folks at Colorado Dental Arts have some serious skills. And when somebody has a sharp power tool just millimeters from your tongue, that's probably important.

Dental Implants: Our First Choice for Tooth Replacement

For many patients, dental implants are the most effective tooth replacement option. Dr. Krendl earned a fellowship at a well-known implant institution, which has allowed him to serve his patients to the best of his ability. He discusses the candidacy requirements for a dental implant and the treatment process in this video.

Take a Look at How Implants Work

For a single-tooth implant, a titanium post is inserted into the jaw. After the post has fused with the bone, the abutment is attached so that the dental crown can be secured to the implant.

Really impressed by this office! Hannah- the dental assistant, was the sweetest human ever. The doctor was informative and thorough. The hygienist was patient and understanding. The women at the front desk were extremely helpful and always willing to answer any questions. I did have a billing issue and they were extremely accountable and just took care of it. This was probably my best experience when it comes to the billing side of things so I can’t recommend this place enough!

Dental Implant Candidacy

While implants are an amazing restorative dentistry procedure, not everyone initially qualifies for this life-changing treatment. You may be a good candidate for dental implants if you:

Are in Good Oral Health

You must be free of tooth decay and gum disease to ensure a healthy foundation for your dental implants. We offer comprehensive treatment options to help you qualify for dental implant placement.

Do Not Use Tobacco

Tobacco use can increase your risk of dental implant failure, as well as put you at risk for many other oral health and general health problems. It is best to stop all tobacco before dental implant placement.

Have Sufficient Jawbone Density

Dental implants require sufficient jawbone material to graft to. Our Littleton dentists can help determine if you need preparatory bone grafting before implant placement.

The Treatment Timeline for Dental Implants What to Expect

Your treatment plan will vary depending on whether you are replacing a single tooth or an entire arch, but in general, the procedure follows these steps:

Dr. Krendl in Littleton uses the latest dental technology to ensure precise implant placement and optimal results.
Dr. Krendl in Littleton uses the latest dental technology to ensure precise implant placement and optimal results.

Consultation

Dr. Krendl will evaluate your health and determine if you are a good candidate. If implants are appropriate, he will design a treatment plan and go over any questions you may have. Digital x-rays will be used to determine the best placement of the dental implants.

First Surgery

You will receive local anesthesia to numb the treatment area. Sedation is also available upon request. Once you are comfortable, a small incision will be made in the gum tissue and the titanium implant will be inserted into the bone.

Healing Period

During the next four to six months, the dental implants will be left undisturbed so they can securely fuse with the jawbone. This step is called osseointegration. You might be provided with a temporary restoration during this time.

Abutment Placement

Once the implants are securely fused with the jawbone, an abutment will be attached. The abutment is a piece added to the implant that allows the restoration to be attached.

Second Healing

During this short period of a few weeks, the gums will heal around the abutment.

Restoration Attachment

Your restoration will be tested for fit and comfort. After any necessary adjustments, it will be attached and you can greet the world with a beautiful, natural-looking smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does implant placement hurt?

No. You will be thoroughly numbed before the implant placement procedure begins. Our Littleton dental practice also offers sedation options to ensure you are completely relaxed and comfortable during treatment.

How long do dental implants last?

Implants are made of durable titanium and are designed to last a lifetime. However, it is important to remember that your denture, dental crown, or dental bridge will wear over time and eventually need to be replaced. With proper care and maintenance, your restoration can last for 15 years or more.

Will anyone be able to tell I have dental implants?

No one will know you have dental implants unless you tell them. The implant post is covered by the restoration that is attached to it. Your denture, crown, or bridge is designed to look incredibly lifelike and blend seamlessly with any remaining natural teeth.

How much do dental implants cost?

This varies from patient to patient due to a number of factors such as the number of implants needed, if any preparatory treatment is needed, and the type of restoration that is attached to the implants. During your initial consultation, your dentist will examine your mouth and discuss your options. Once a treatment plan is created, we can provide a more accurate quote to help you plan and budget.
